How do I import multiple 1099-R forms for the same TIN?
You can import separate 1099-R forms for the same recipient TIN. Give each intended form its own Account Number so BoomTax can distinguish the records.
Prepare separate forms in your spreadsheet
- Use the import spreadsheet for the correct form type and tax year.
- Keep the recipient's full TIN and name on each intended form.
- Enter a different Account Number for each separate form. Use stable identifiers that you can keep on later exports and imports.
- Import the spreadsheet into the intended filing and review the import results.
- Open the filing and confirm that each intended form is present before e-filing.
For example, two intended 1099-R forms for one recipient could use RETIREMENT-01 and RETIREMENT-02. Use your own record identifiers in your actual data.
When you re-import
Keep each form's Account Number unchanged when updating that form. When an uploaded row includes an Account Number, BoomTax uses it to find an existing form in the filing. Reusing one number for different intended forms can cause an unintended match.
Do not change the TIN just to avoid a duplicate warning. If you receive Duplicate TIN (SSN or EIN) found, check for repeated rows and missing or repeated Account Numbers first.
Other form types
Duplicate detection varies by form type. The steps above describe multiple 1099-R forms. Contact BoomTax support if another form type still reports a duplicate after you provide distinct Account Numbers.
