How does checkout work when I e-file?

When you e-file federal or state tax forms, BoomTax first walks you through the filing review and available options. After you finish that review, it shows any payment or credit confirmation needed for your submission.

Complete the filing review

Open your filing and start the e-file workflow.
Review the forms, notification recipients, and any state-filing options shown for your filing. Resolve any validation errors before continuing.
On the final review step, select Continue. BoomTax checks the coverage and credits available for this filing.

If a payment is required

Review the checkout line items, quantities, sales tax, and total before paying. Your invoice can include the federal filing purchase and state e-file charges for the options you selected. Available credits and existing coverage affect the amount due.

If a Company purchase or Personal purchase notice is shown, check which balance the purchase will fund. Company credits and an individual account's credits are separate.

For a personal invoice, answer the billing-address question if it is shown.
Choose an available payment method. If both My payment method and Company payment method are offered, select the correct source.
Review the final total and select Pay.

Payment access depends on your permissions. If checkout asks you to contact a billing administrator, have an authorized administrator complete the purchase.

If credits cover the submission

You may see a credit-confirmation screen instead of a payment form. Review the credits this submission will use and the balance left afterward, then confirm when you are ready to submit. Other covered submissions may proceed directly to confirmation.

Check what happened after checkout

For an e-file checkout, completing the required payment or credit confirmation continues the submission. Check the confirmation, filing status, and E-file History to follow its progress. A payment receipt alone is not an agency acceptance notice.

Buying credits or services separately does not always submit your forms. Follow any Action Needed or Continue to E-File instructions shown after the purchase.

If BoomTax asks you to review and re-submit the filing after payment, complete that review. If you are unsure whether payment or submission succeeded, check your receipts and filing history, or contact support before paying again.
