How do I download available state e-file files for my 1099 filing?
If BoomTax has generated state e-file files for your 1099 filing, you can download them from the filing. This download is available only when files have been generated; it is not offered for every form type or state.
Download an available state file
- Open Filings and select the filing.
- Click Download State Efiles in the filing toolbar.
- On State E-File Downloads - 1099 Filing, find the state and confirm the tax year, filing type, and filing name.
- Click the linked File Name to download the file.
Use View Files for All Filings - Tax Year if you want to review the available files for other filings in that tax year.
If the button or file is missing
The filing's button appears only when it has generated state files. You also need the relevant state e-file access. A missing file does not tell you whether a state requires a filing, whether IRS forwarding applies, or whether a separate submission is complete.
If you expected a file, contact support with the filing name, tax year, form type, and state. Some files may not have been generated yet, and some workflows do not provide a downloadable state file.
Does downloading mean the state filing is complete?
No. Downloading a file does not submit it or establish state acceptance. Confirm whether BoomTax submitted directly, IRS forwarding applies, or you need to upload the file yourself. Check any direct state request in E-File History and follow the applicable state agency's instructions before using a downloaded file.
This guide covers available 1099 state-file downloads. W-2 federal e-filing does not submit your forms to state agencies.
