Set up a company and manage filings for multiple payers

A BoomTax company workspace lets your team share filings for multiple payers while each person uses their own login. Company access must be enabled for your account. If Account > Company shows an Enterprise information page, contact BoomTax to enable it. If you were invited to an existing company, use the invitation email instead of creating another company.

Set up your company

  1. Open Account > Company.
  2. Enter a Company name and select Continue. This names your shared workspace; it does not replace payer information on your forms.
  3. Follow the setup steps to add team members and choose their roles. Review the access you are granting.
  4. On the review step, select Save company & send invites.

New filings created by company members belong to the company automatically. Members' roles determine which filings they can see and what they can do.

Add people later

  1. Open Account > Company.
  2. In Team, select Invite team members or Add people.
  3. Enter the email addresses, select a Role, and select Send invitations.

You need permission to manage company members. Choose a role that gives each person the access they need.

Move existing personal filings into the company

  1. On the Company page, find Company Filings and select Import Filings.
  2. Select the personal filings to move, then select Import Selected.

This moves the filings into the shared workspace. It does not import a spreadsheet or create duplicate forms. You must be an Owner of each personal filing, and any e-file processing must finish before it can move.

Check sharing before you import. Existing individual filing access is removed when a filing moves into the company. Anyone who still needs access must be a company member with an applicable role. Filings you leave unselected stay outside the company.

Manage multiple payers

Keep each payer's forms in the appropriate filing for that payer, form type, and tax year. You can keep many payers' filings in one company workspace. An account belongs to one company workspace at a time.

For limited access, use Manage access (or Set up advanced access) to group payers and filings into business units and connect them to roles. A business unit groups access; it does not create a separate company workspace.

If Company management controls are missing, ask your company's Owner or Manager to review your role. For account enablement, contact BoomTax support.
